Southborough primary school confirmed they had not been affected by the leak.

Martin Lavery, 68, a resident of Loose Road said: “When I came home yesterday early afternoon there was no water and I had no notification about it, which I would expect.

“I came in and went to make a cup of tea but I couldn’t. Luckily I went out to post a letter and there was some bottles of water in Plains Avenue so I got some of those.

“We should have been told what was going on.

“The water has come back on this morning, it was off at 11pm, so it must have come back on overnight

“When I left yesterday at about 8am there was water running down the road it was like a little stream. I had to seek refuge in a driveway while cars went passed to not get splashed, so I knew something wasn’t right”
