Crash at petrol station in Sandling Road, Maidstone

An elderly driver lost control of his vehicle while visiting the Shell Petrol Station in Sandling Road, Maidstone, last night.

He crashed his car into a bollard in front of the garage shop, which caused a small fire inside the car.

Garage staff quickly put out the flames with the forecourt extinguishers. The fire brigade were not called.

The man was shaken and received assistance from para-medics but is not believed to have been injured.

The petrol station was closed for around two hours while police and ambulance crews attended the scene of the incident which happened at round 9.20pm, but it was able to re-open later and is open as normal today.
