Teenager who collided with car in Maidstone dies of his injuries in hospital

A teenage cyclist who was involved in a collision with a car on January 1 has died in hospital.

The 18-year-old was riding a BMX bike on Sutton Road in Maidstone, at its junction with Cranborne Avenue, when he collided with a white Volvo XC60.

The incident happened on Sutton Road at its junction with Cranborne Avenue

Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service were called at 5.40pm and the man was treated for his injuries at the scene before being taken to a London hospital for further medical attention.

Police have this afternoon confirmed that he died on Tuesday and have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Anyone who saw the incident who has not yet spoken to officers, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage which may assist the investigation, is urged to call the serious collision investigation unit."
