Theft of pensioner's purse in Maidstone Card Factory sparks police search

A woman in her 80s had her purse stolen after she left it on a counter while visiting a shop.

The incident happened at Card Factory in The Mall, Maidstone, at about 10am on Friday, December 11.

The purse contained the elderly victim's driving licence and bank card - which was later used by someone without her permission.

Police have released a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to in relation to the theft.

A spokesman for the force said: "Enquiries have been carried out and officers would now like to hear from anyone who recognises the woman in the CCTV image, as they believe she may be able to assist them."

Detectives are urging anyone who recognises her to call them on 01622 604100, quoting the reference number 46/219131/20, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
