Large queues piled up coastbound on the M20 after a van fire closed the road.

All traffic was being held between J5 for the A20 towards Aylesford and J6 A229 towards Blue Bell Hill, Maidstone.

Four lanes of the carriageway were fully congested but the opposite direction seems to be flowing as normal.

The dedicated slip lanes for the M20 remain closed according to Kent highways.

Fire was called at 10.41am and went with three engines to extinguish the blaze.
