Traffic was held on the M20 this evening thanks to two separate incidents close to each other.

All traffic was stopped on the M20 coastbound between Junction 8 for Leeds Castle and Maidstone Services, and Junction 9, for Ashford, due to a shed load across two lanes. It was reported a digger had fallen from the back of a vehicle.

Highways England warned that delays were starting to build on the approach.

In a separate incident, all traffic was being temporarily held due to what is being described as a police incident, on M20 coastbound, between Junction 9 and Junction 10, for Ashford South.

Highways say the police incident has now cleared.

Two lanes remained closed because of the shed load but traffic was released at around 7.30pm.

There have been queues stretching back for four miles.
