The road was closed in all directions to allow emergency engineers to find the leak and repair it but is now due to fully reopen tomorrow.

It was announced that the leak had been fixed this morning, and the road was awaiting re-instatement by Southern Gas Networks.

KCC highways said: "We are expecting the road to be fully reopened by the end of tomorrow.
