Pranksters have targeted an election campaign poster for the second day in row.

The Tonbridge and Malling Tory candidate Tom Tugendhat's face has been replaced by children's favourite, Buzz Lightyear, overnight in Leybourne.

Mischievous vandals toyed around with the large banner at the junction for Castle Way and Oxley Shaw Lane.

In recent years the village has become renowned for its practical jokes to amuse the public.

Yesterday, residents woke to find Sir Bruce Forsyth had substituted the Conservative candidate.

Locals were pleased to see the stunt's return. Andrew Johnson said it was: "The only funny thing about this election."

In 2017 several well-known faces donned Mr Tugendhat's suit and tie including Brian Blessed, Chris Kamara, TV character Mrs Brown and Borat.

Speaking about the antics at the last election campaign two years ago, a spokesperson for the devilish trio of pranksters said: "We hope everyone has taken the prank for what it was, light-hearted fun.

"Rest assured that no criminal damage was actually caused, and all precautions were taken to avoid any potentially controversial characters."

It is not known whether the group are responsible for the faces this year.

Mr Tugendhat said: "They say politics is show business for ugly people, all I can say is: thank you to those who are making me look better. Who knows where they’ll send me next, to infinity and beyond?"
