A woman arrested after a fatal hit and run in Chatham has been released on bail.

A man in his 70s died following the collision in New Road near its junction with Otway Terrace, at around 10.50pm on Monday.

Police later confirmed a woman in her 20s, from the Rochester area, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

They say she has now been released on bail, pending further inquiries, until September 7.
