Sheppey biker, 23, dies after crash with van on A249 near Queenborough

A young motorcyclist has died after a crash with a van on the Isle of Sheppey.

The 23-year-old rider was involved in a smash on the A249 Brielle Way, heading towards Queenborough, last night.

The local man was flown to a London hospital, but medics could not save his life.

His white Yamaha 125cc motorbike was travelling towards Queenborough, along the section of the A249 running adjacent to Cromwell Road.

It was involved in a crash with a white Mercedes Vito van travelling in the opposite direction at about 6.50pm.

The air ambulance said the man was flown to King's College Hospital, London, with head and thorax injuries.

Witnesses are being sought following a fatal crash in Brielle Way

Officers from the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit have launched an investigation.

They want to hear from witnesses, particularly the driver of a small black vehicle that stopped at the scene but did not leave their details.
