A coastal park is set to reopen after re-surfacing works.

Barton’s Point is a 40-acre green space between Minster and Sheerness on Sheppey.

The site, which attracts walkers, is also a popular spot for people wanting to go kayaking, sailing and camping.

Visitors were unable to access its car park this week.

It closed on Wednesday and is not due to reopen until tomorrow (November 18).

It is due to resurfacing works taking place at the entrance to the park.

Last November saw Swale council secure £85,000 in funding for the improvements.

The grant came from the government’s Levelling Up Parks Fund.

As well as the parking improvements, the money has also gone towards installing new walking and cycling signs and tree planting.

Separate refurbishments, totalling £158,056, have also been implemented to try and rejuvenate Barton’s Point.

Two new bridges, a toilet block and five benches were added to the site back in July.
