A driver and a passenger had to be taken to hospital after they were assaulted by cyclists.

Officers are investigating reports a row erupted in Marine Parade, Sheerness, at about 10.25am on Sunday, June 21.

A green Land Rover towing a fishing boat drove past three cyclists before they stopped and were approached by two of the riders who were unhappy about how they had been passed.

Police say "an altercation" followed and the driver and passenger were assaulted.

The pair received minor injuries and were taken to hospital before being discharged.

Two male cyclists, who were also with a third male cyclist in grey clothing, then rode away.

Officers want to talk to anyone who witnessed what happened, in particular a driver of a silver Mercedes in the area at the time.

One rider was in his late 30s, stocky and had a black beard.

The second was also stocky but in his late 40s with a black and grey beard.

Both men were wearing dark Lycra, sunglasses, cycling hats and gloves.
