Witnesses said a man stamped on the boy's head before leaving the area.

The victim's father, Joe Cato, said his son Bradley was taken to King's College Hospital in London by air ambulance in a critical condition.

A police spokesman said: "The arrested man has been released on bail until January 3 and the victim remains in hospital in a stable condition."
