An organisation supporting victims of domestic abuse was the winner when two teams took to the pitch for a charity football match at the weekend.

A Sheerness East FC Charity XI played a side representing Swale Action to End Domestic Abuse on Sunday morning.

The football club’s annual fundraiser was held at Sheerness East Working Men’s Club in Halfway, with the hosts winning 5-2.

Spectators paid a £2 donation to watch the action.

The match was also a chance to pledge support to the White Ribbon campaign, an effort to end male violence against women.

Tracy Marsh, who works at Sateda and is secretary of Sheerness East FC, said: “We raised more than £400 which is going to help fund youth projects for people who have witnessed domestic violence.

“The event went really well, we had a lot of support and raised a lot of money and the teams had a good battle so we’re going to make it an annual thing.

“It’s going to be bigger and better next year. Thank you ever so much for coming along, supporting us and allowing us to help change the lives of so many local people.”

Swale Action to End Domestic Abuse, or Sateda for short, works with people who have experienced abusive relationships and helps them rebuild their lives.
