Part of a Sheppey supermarket has been temporarily closed as it undergoes maintenance.

The petrol station at the Sheerness branch of Tesco, in Bridge Road, closed earlier this week as workers began the five-day scheme.

It is thought new underground tanks are being installed at the site.

A Tesco spokesman said: "Our petrol forecourt at the Sheerness superstore is temporarily closed for maintenance and will reopen on Saturday, June 27.

"We have banners in the car park advising customers of this.

"We would like to thank our customers for their patience during this short closure."
