Firefighters are asking people to consider neighbours before lighting bonfires at night.
Crews were called to Plover Road in Minster this morning at about 12.30am after smoke was seen coming from a bonfire.
It was coming from a metal bin which was safe and there were not concerns for it spreading.
But Sheerness Fire Station crew manager, Andy Friday, said it could have disturbed people who were sleeping with their windows open due to the heat.
"The burning of materials caused heavy smoke in a residential area," he said.
"As people were sleeping with their windows open with this hot weather, it could have caused some disturbance to nearby residents.
"I'd just like to ask people to consider their neighbours."
