People are finding different ways of saying 'thank-you' to the NHS during the coronavirus scare.

In Plover Road, Minster, a family has erected a huge 'Thank You NHS' banner along its front garden fence opposite the staff entrance to Sheppey Community Hospital.

A nurse said: "It is so lovely to see the banner every time I drive into work."

In Sittingbourne, car and van rental firm Hire 2 You has taken its advertising vans off the bridges and given them a makeover.

Kelly Squires at the firm at the Smeed Dean Centre in Castle Road said: "We have had them sign-written with NHS logos by Spyder Creative to help the community in this crisis."

They repeat the government's advice to stay at home to save lives and also thank NHS workers.

She added: "We wanted to thank the NHS and frontline people that are working so hard out there. We need to take this very seriously and help each other.

"Thank you to the doctors, police officers, fire brigade, shop assistants, shop workers, truck drivers, bin men, Post Office workers, delivery drivers, mechanics factory workers and farmers for staying out there and doing it for the country."

The firm has also supported volunteers by providing vans to enable them to deliver food parcels to the vulnerable and elderly and vital supplies to the NHS.

Bosses at Golden Leas caravan park in Bell Farm Lane, Minster, bought nine organic vegetable boxes from Brambledown Farm Shop to give to NHS personnel. The farm shop donated a 10th one for free.

A Golden Leas spokesman said: "It is a small token of gratitude to the incredible NHS personnel who are tirelessly supporting our community every hour of every day."
