Three people from Margate arrested after armed police storm Cliftonville road

Three arrests have been made and a BB gun seized after armed police stormed a street.

Officers were called to Clifton Gardens, Margate, just after 8.10pm yesterday following a report a man had been seen with what was thought to be a weapon.

Residents spotted a police helicopter hovering overhead and heard shouts of "get down, get down".

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene in Cliftonville and two more people - a 20-year-old woman and a man, 38 - were apprehended nearby.

A police spokesman said: "All three remain in custody and a BB gun has been seized as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident."

He also says that each of the suspects are from Margate.
