A man has been arrested after reports of a person seen with a weapon.

Armed police stormed Clifton Gardens in Margate at about 8.10pm today.

Residents have also spotted a police helicopter hovering in the area.

An eyewitness told KentOnline how they heard police shout "get down, get down".

A police spokesperson said officers were called to Clifton Gardens at 8.12pm after a report a man had been seen with what was believed to be a weapon.

"Officers attended and, with the assistance of the police helicopter, located a man who was arrested," they said.

Inquiries are continuing.
