Boy, 12, taken to King's College Hospital in London after being hit by a car in Rye Road, Hawkhurst

A child has been taken to hospital in London after being hit by a car in Hawkhurst.

The 12-year-old boy was struck by a Mazda in Rye Road just after 5.30pm yesterday.

Police, ambulance and air ambulance crews attended the scene and he was taken to King's College Hospital in London with head and arm injuries.

The ambulance came about 90 minutes late. Stock picture.

A police spokesman said the incident was an accident, and no arrests have been made.

The boy's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
