A tattoo shop boss says customers who share racist abuse online will be barred and won't have their deposits returned.

Steve Legg, who runs Black & Even in Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells, condemned the abuse aimed at Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka in the wake of England's Euro 2020 final defeat at the hands of Italy.

The business owner shared a message of support on the businesses' Facebook page alongside images of the three penalty takers.

It read: "Any customer that has bookings with us and shared racist abuse on social media towards anyone will lose their booking and deposit and won’t be welcome back."

The action was widely praised with some suggesting other businesses should follow suit.

Tattoo shop boss Steve explained: "I can't believe this is still going on. It is time to grow up and see it how it is is.

"I thought I'm not going to be tolerating racist people in my business whatsoever."

The 37-year-old, who attended St George's Church of England school in Gravesend and North West Kent College in Dartford, confessed he is not a typical football fan.

But added how he had enjoyed the last two weeks and the sense of togetherness the England team had engendered among people in "dark times".

"I don't even like football, I saw the last game and the semi final which was brilliant," he said. "It is something everyone needed in these times."

But the tattoo boss says he feared for the town's Italian businesses in the wake of the team's defeat yesterday amid the circulation of images of hooligans breaking into stadiums and abuse aimed at black players.

He added: "Let's be pleased for the Italians, let's not use it as an excuse to smash places up."

Steve has signed up his business to the town's safeplace scheme which offers school kids threatened with bullying a place of refuge.

He urged others to get involved and labelled racism an aggressive form of bullying that needs to be addressed both online and off.

Steve added: "I think people should be more aware and make a bit of a stand."

The Metropolitan Police says it is investigating the abuse aimed towards players and said "it will not be tolerated".

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Football Association have also condemned it with England Manager Gareth Southgate labelling the actions "unforgivable".

Earlier today a Kent theatre cancelled a comedian's upcoming gig after he made racist comments following the Three Lion's penalty heartache.
