Chimney alight in wood stove in Pembury home

Firefighters were called to an address in Pembury, near Tunbridge Wells, where the chimney of a wood-burning stove had caught alight.

Crews arrived at the property in Henwoods Crescent at 12.35pm and were able to leave around 50 minutes later.

Two fire crews attended the blaze in Pembury

Two fire-engines attended the scene with firefighters using breathing apparatus and specialist chimney rods to extinguish the flames. No casualties were reported.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is now reminding everyone of the importance of having all chimneys regularly cleaned.
