The Astor Theatre in Deal , like others across the county, has suffered due to enforced closure but as it prepares to close again, an old friend is offering a ray of hope in the darkness.

Chris Difford of Squeeze , who performed at the theatre back in 2016, has offered to stage a special performance in

aid of the venue via Zoom, this weekend.

It will be one of a series of Zoom concerts from his Writers’ Garden in support of The Astor.

He told What’s On: “I have always loved the Astor Theatre. It’s run so well and I always feel looked after, even if

they have the smallest dressing room on the south coast - the fun of playing there is so great.

“Sadly live music is not an option but Zoom is, so I’m thrilled to be able to support this wonderful venue. Stay on your sofa and enjoy the fun.”

Tickets for the occasion on Saturday, November 7, are on sale at theastor.co.uk
