Remarkable photographs show the extent of the damage caused by a major blaze in Whitstable on Friday night.

Fire crews were called just after 7.50pm to a blaze in a derelict property behind Gladstone Road - just off the popular seaside town's high street.

Crews spent several hours tackling the fire with the flames and smoke seen around the town.

Initial fears someone may have been in the building were allayed and an investigation is now under way into what caused the fire.

Photographer Tim Stubbings captured the aftermath of the blaze this morning.
