Martin Allen has promised to let the fans know early this week his plans for Burton.

With promotion and the championship now in the bag, the Gills boss, pictured, could be planning something different for the trip to the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday.

But he’s keen to run his ideas past chairman Paul Scally first.

Allen said: “I will talk to my chairman and discuss it with him and my staff. I know what team I want to play already for Burton.

“In the early part of the week I will share that with the supporters, no doubt. I need to have honesty and openness and that’s what they will get.”

The players spent Saturday celebrating with an evening of karaoke in the boardroom, a sausage and chips dinner and, for the kids, the “biggest bowl of sweets that Kent has ever seen,” said Allen.

However, the Gills boss is still reluctant to go on a bus tour of Gillingham with the trophy.

He said: “If Mr Scally tells me I have to get on the bus with all the players I will get on the bus, but it’s not in my schedule."
