Herne Bay high street closed by car fire outside fire station

A dramatic video shows a car engulfed by a fireball in a busy Kent high street.

Stunned onlookers watched as the Fiat Punto burst into flames just yards from Herne Bay fire station.

Footage shared on social media at just before 8pm yesterday shows firefighters using hoses to tackle the blaze opposite the Coco Brown sunbed shop.

The road was shut off while emergency services dealt with the incident.

It is understood the incident had been dealt with and the car removed by about 10.30pm.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for more information about the cause of the blaze.
