Multi-vehicle crash shut A2 in Teynham in both directions between Faversham and Sittingbourne

A major road was closed in both directions and two people are in hospital after a six-vehicle crash.

The A2 London Road was blocked in Teynham, between Faversham and Sittingbourne.

Two people were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital following the collision.

The incident reportedly happened between the turning for Frognal Lane and Lynstead Lane.

It is understood that the route has now reopened, and traffic is easing.

A police spokesman added: “We were called at 12.24pm today to a collision involving six vehicles in London Road Teynham.

“Officers and paramedics attended the scene where people were treated for injuries.

“They have been taken to a local hospital for further medical attention and arrangements are underway to recover the vehicles.”

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service added: “I can confirm that SECAmb were called shortly after 12:15 this afternoon to reports of a multi vehicle RTC in Teynham.

“Crews arrived and assessed and treated two people at the scene before taking them both to the Medway Maritime Hospital for further medical treatment.”
