Man killed in bridge crash on A2070 in Ashford

A motorist has been killed after smashing into a bridge near Ashford early today.

The man, in his 50s, was driving a red Audi A4 when he came off the A2070 near Ashford and hit a pillar.

He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, at about 1am.

Kent Police said the driver, who was travelling from Hamstreet to Ashford, was the only person in the car.

The force said it was not yet known why the man came off the road.

Witnesses are urged to phone the Kent Police Serious Collision Unit on 01622798538.
