A section of motorway had to be closed following a lorry fire.
It happened on the M20 Junction 9 (Ashford) at about 11.50am today.
The Polish driver had realised his trailer was on fire, stopped safely and uncoupled the trailer from the tractor unit before dialing 999.
Firefighters quickly put out the blaze and police closed the road for just half an hour.
The Polish-registered HGV was a car transporter with no cargo but the wooden blocks used to stabilise loads had caught fire.
Two fire crews from Ashford and Charing were called to the scene, the coastbound side of the motorway just before Junction 9.
An Ashford station spokesman said: “It was only a small fire and we were able to put it out quickly.”
Crews were at the scene for an hour and the cause of the fire is not known.
