M20 clear after crash between Junctions 8 and 9

A crash that blocked the M20 London-bound carriageway between Junction 8 for Leeds Castle and Junction 9, Ashford has now been cleared.

The coast-bound carriageway was also closed to allow the air ambulance to land.

An air ambulance spokesman said that a patient has been airlifted to King's College Hospital in London and said: "At 1.05pm today, Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance was called to a road traffic collision in Ashford.”

A police spokesman said: "We received a report of a single-vehicle collision at Junction 9 of the M20 London-bound at 1pm today.

"Officers attended the scene along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service where all three lanes were closed.

"A man was airlifted to hospital with injuries after a van was in collision with the central reservation.

"The vehicle has since been recovered and the road is now open."
