Ashford man faces charges

A man who is charged with a string of 29 offences has appeared before magistrates.

Levi Smith, formerly of St Teresa’s Close, Ashford, appeared in Dover Magistrates on Saturday to face accusations of perpetrating two burglaries - one in Park Street, Lydd , on January 23, and the other in The Street, Wittersham, near Tenterden, on January 6.

Smith, 40, is also facing seven offences of taking vehicles without the consent of the owner; two of stealing from vehicles; an offence of going equipped for theft; and one of theft from a shop.

He is also accused of 16 offences of driving with no insurance and driving whilst disqualified.

Smith was remanded in custody, pending a subsequent hearing before the court.
