Motorcyclist dies and child hurt as A28 at Godmersham, between Ashford and Canterbury, closed following crash between motorbike and Renault Scenic

A 31-year-old motorcyclist has died in a crash with a Renault on the A28.

The man, from Ashford, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash on the A28 between Ashford and Canterbury.

The accident was between the man's black Honda motorcycle and a white Renault Scenic just before 3.30pm near the Street at Godmersham.

A seven-year-old girl who was travelling in the car was flown to St George's Hospital in London suffering from head injuries.

A woman who was travelling in the car was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

The A28 was closed in both directions between Chilham and White Hill while police officers carried out a scene investigation.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area.
