Bus evacuated as wheel catches fire

A bus had to be evacuated of 50 passengers when its wheel arch caught fire.

The small blaze happened at Seabrook Road, Seabrook, at 10.45am on Saturday.

The driver was able to put out the blaze himself with a fire extinguisher.

A spokesman for Folkestone Fire Station said: "We believe the fire happened after the brakes overheated.

"The fire was out by the time we got there but we made sure the bus was safe."

Two fire engines, one from Folkestone and another from Hythe, were called in and the passengers were transferred to another bus.
