A court heard he not only threatened to masturbate on the vehicle but also started shouting and verbally abusing the owner – who had caught his behaviour on CCTV and called the police.

When officers arrived at the scene in Ashford Road on Thursday, December 14, the 55-year-old then began shouting and swearing at them.

He was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, taken into custody at Folkestone police station and was later charged with the offence.

When officers tried to interview him, he made no comment.

Teale, who told magistrates he was a “sofa-surfing” but gave a postal address of Benenden Road, Ashford, admitted the offence when he appeared in the dock at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on January 11.

Richard Lamb, prosecuting, said: “The owner called the police as he was abusing her and shouting.

“Police attended and he was clearly intoxicated and began shouting and swearing at officers.

“He had previous convictions which are relevant.”

Magistrates also heard that on the night in question, Teale had been at a friend’s 50th birthday celebrations and had consumed a large amount of alcohol.

The court was told he had been trying to give up booze, so what he had drunk that night had affected him more.

The bench decided to place Teale on a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £26 and £85 court costs.
