A family got a shock when they opened their curtains to find a flock of sheep grazing in their back garden.

Diane Fisher, of Egerton, near Ashford, said she was confused but excited to look out her window and see the woolly escapees yesterday morning.

The family enjoyed watching the sheep while eating their breakfast but the member of the household most interested was their bengal cat, Silver.

Diane took to social media to try and reunite the ruminant runaways with their owner and snapped some pictures to share.

She posted: “Escaped sheep! We have woken up to about 10 sheep in the garden. If you have lost your flock let me know.”

On her cat’s reaction to the fluffy visitors, Diane said: “She was a bit scared at first with her tail puffed out but it graduated to genuine interest after a few minutes.

“She's an indoor cat so it was all very exciting for her, well it was for us too to be honest.

“One of the reasons we fell in love with our house was the sheep grazing on the local fields.”

Escaped sheep are not a rare appearance in the rural areas of the county and earlier this year were responsible for closing five miles of the A21 and holding up an ambulance.

Thankfully Diane’s post reached the farmer who promptly came to retrieve their livestock.

The cat owner later confirmed the sheep were safely home and praised the local farming community for their work.
