Fire crews at Charcoal Grill in Bockhanger Square, Ashford

Firefighters battled a blaze at a takeaway restaurant.

Crews were called at 1:15pm to Charcoal Grill in Bockhanger Square off Bybrook Road in Kennington, Ashford.

Four fire engines and a height vehicle attended and crews put out the fire by 3.15pm.

Other homes and businesses within the building were evacuated as a precaution.

Two engines and a height vehicle remain on the scene.

A spokesperson for the fire service said that a flat above the property had been affected.

No injuries have been reported.

One witness captured a dramatic video of smoke billowing into the air.

Fire engines could also be seen driving towards the blaze, and sirens could be heard.
