Fire destroys cabin at Gallagher Retail Park, Ashford

The fire brigade was called to a suspected arson which destroyed a derelict cabin near a retail park last night.

Crews were called to the derelict site of the former McLaren Frozen Foods off Norman Road, next to the Gallagher Retail Park at 6pm where rubbish was on fire.

The crews were called again shortly after 8.10pm where a derelict cabin was on fire, and spent an hour to douse the flames using compressed air foam.

An fire brigade spokesman said: "We think it could possibly be down to arson or possibly some kids messing about."

Three fire engines from Ashford attended the blaze after several calls from concerned onlookers. Shops at the Gallagher Retail park include Halfords, Currys PC World and Pets at Home.
