Crews from Ashford, Cranbrook, Tenterden and Maidstone were all involved in bringing the fire under control, which is believed to have started due to an electrical fault.

Four appliances, a water unit and a total of 20 firefighters attended the blaze in Shenley Road just outside the village at 8.40pm.

It took them two and a half hours to finally bring the fire at the timber-framed single storey stable block under control and left the scene an hour later at 12.10am.

Crews used two hose reels and a main jet to try and protect adjacent caravans.

But one caravan was completely destroyed and 70% of the stables measuring 15m x 20m have been damaged by the incident.
