Traffic lights at junction 10 roundabout in Ashford have been updated and turned back on by Highways Agency

Traffic signals at the busy junction 10 roundabout in Ashford have been turned back on.

They were switched off in January while workers carried out overnight repair work on the surrounding roads.

The Highways Agency said the lights were then replaced with an updated set to "maintain journey reliability and reduce the likelihood of emergency repairs in the future"

But motorists claimed the traffic flowed much smoother without them and called for Highways officials to keep them off for good.

One driver, Call Clark, from Tenterden, said switching them back on is a huge mistake.

He said: "When the lights were off and just one set was left on, the traffic flowed much more smoothly.

“The one set left on allowed for a short break in traffic and cars were able to filter out in a civilised way.

“I just cannot believe that someone has made the ridiculous decision to turn them back on, they must not even use the junction."
