Gridlock traffic at Ashford Retail Park, Sevington

Cars were stuck in standstill traffic for over an hour at the junction in and out of Ashford Retail Park.

The Barrey Road junction saw nose-to-tail traffic on the A2070.

Aimee @swayney said on Twitter: "It took 1 hour and 35 minutes to get out of the car park! On a Monday at 2pm?! This isn't even a weekend!"

Liz Carter said: "I had to queue to get into Barrey Road going home to lunch, going back was even worse.

"It took me 20 minutes to do 2 miles back to work. I was late!

"Most of the delay was actually pulling out from Church Road into Barrey Road, and then from Barrey Road onto the A2070, it took 15 minutes!

"This is just not acceptable!"

Liz has also contacted MP Damian Green about the issue.

Sevington resident Ian Sharp said: "There has been an on going stand still for most of the day.

"It takes my wife and I a minimum of 40 minutes everyday. Unfortunately Highways England don't believe what is happening."

It is not clear what caused the chaos.

A police spokesperson said: "There are no police incidents or collisions in that area."
