Police helicopter searches for suspects after reported burglary in Shadoxhurst, near Ashford

Two people are in police custody today following a reported burglary.

Police were called at 9.46pm last night to reports a group of people had broken into a home in Nickley Wood Road, in Shadoxhurst, near Ashford.

The offenders fled the scene and the police helicopter was called in to help search the area.

Police have since arrested two men in connection to the incident.

They both remain in custody today.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a reported burglary in Shadoxhurst, at 9.46pm on Wednesday, February 10.

"It was reported that a number of offenders had fled the scene and the National Police Air Service helicopter assisted in a search of the local area.

"A 35-year-old man from Bermondsey and a 33-year-old man from Larkfield were later arrested in connection to the incident and remain in custody."

Inquiries continue into the theft and anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting XY/005289/16.

This was the second incident in Ashford last night which called for the help of the police helicopter.

The aircraft was spotted circling the town following calls from residents in Loudon Way that a man was damaging cars.

The suspect left the scene and the police's investigation continues today into the incident.
