Hundreds of homes have been left without power as temperatures outside drop close to freezing.

A fault with an underground electricity cable means 1,047 homes in Faversham don't have supplies.

Properties in the ME13 7 and ME13 8 post code areas have been affected since about 4.20pm.

Engineers are working to try and fix the problem but say it may take until 8pm to restore the power.

Earlier, 387 properties in the Little Chart area near Ashford were left without electricity due to a problem with a high voltage overhead electricity line.

The fault was reported at around 12.30pm and supplies were restored a few hours later.
