Park Street in Ashford cordoned off by police at junction with Wellesley Road near Panorama building after man dies

A 22-year-old man whose body was discovered in Park Street, Ashford, yesterday morning plunged to his death from the Panorama building, police have revealed his morning.

Police officers and ambulance crews were called at 8.05am yesterday to reports of a man in the road but when they arrived they discovered he had died.

A police spokesman confirmed they are not treating his death as suspicious and added that police do not believe the Health and Safety Executive is involved.

Police spokesman Jon Green said: "Police believe the 22-year-old man from Ashford who was found dead in Park Street on Sunday morning fell from the Panorama building.

"A report into the circumstances surrounding the death is being prepared for the coroner. There are currently no suspicious circumstances."

The road was shut between the junction with Wellesley Road and the corner near the North Street end of the Panorama building.

A police van and several police cars blocked the road at either end and the pavement was cordoned off with police tape.

Builders from the Panorama site were seen standing in Park Street talking to police officers and a tarpaulin sheet covered part of the ground.

The Panorama is the former Charter House office block, currently being renovated and turned into apartments with retail space on the ground floor.

The road fully reopened Sunday afternoon.
