Appeal after knifepoint robbery at chip shop in Hunter Avenue, Ashford

A chip shop worker was forced to hand over takings in a knifepoint robbery.

Police want witnesses after a man entered the Fish Stop takeaway in Hunter Avenue, Ashford, and demanded money.

He threatened a staff member with the blade, before leaving with "a quantity" of cash.

The worker was not hurt during the robbery, which took place at around 8.30pm yesterday.

The suspect was described as a white man, aged between 20 and 25 years old, and was 5ft 10ins tall with a stocky build.

He was wearing a black hooded waterproof jacket with the hood up.

Detective Sergeant Stephanie Devon said: "This incident took place in an area with a number of houses and is a close-knit community, so we are sure someone will have seen or heard something that is related to the robbery that can assist our investigation.
