Motorway car flip crash at junction 10, M20, Ashford

A prison custody officer says she is lucky to be alive after her car hit a pothole on the motorway then flipped over twice and left her trapped upside down in the wreckage.

Megan Rose was driving to work along with her partner Jade King and Jade’s brother Dan King on the M20.

The trio from Folkestone town centre were in a Vauxhall Corsa in the outside lane when it struck the pothole, which sent the car towards the inside lane.

The car was left wrecked by the side of the motorway.

Megan said: “The car went down on the pothole in the outside lane which spun the car around. We got to the other side and hit another hole and the car was flipped over twice.

“I thought that this was it, it was the end of our lives. The wind was so strong that it just blew the car over.

“We ended up stuck upside down, screaming, and I couldn’t breathe. I could see people outside the car, banging on the windows.

“A guy struggled to open the car door, but managed to get us out so quickly. There were two ladies there who stuck with us for the whole time.”

The crash happened on Thursday, February 15 shortly after 7am near junction 10 at Ashford, as they were on their way to Maidstone.

Miraculously the trio didn’t suffer serious injuries, but Dan has suffered fractures to his spine, while Megan and Jade report they have sore heads and bodies today.

Megan has shared her experience on Facebook in a bid to track down those who helped them by the roadside. The post has been since been shared thousands of times online.

She has already tracked down some of the people who helped her after the crash, and police and paramedics also attended the scene.

She added: “We are in a really bad state, Dan is in agony, and our emotions are everywhere. I don’t think I’ll be driving again.

“I’m desperate to find everyone who helped us. If they hadn’t have stopped to help, God knows what would have happened to us all.

“I think someone was looking over us yesterday, we are so lucky to be here today.”
