Ashford: Part of A2042 set to close for ten weeks

Part of the A2042 dual carriageway in Ashford is set to shut.

The southbound lanes of Romney Marsh Road and Avenue Jacques Faucheux will be closing for up to ten weeks to "facilitate the development of the Designer Outlet".

Expansion work on the outlet began in January to add an additional 50 units to the existing shopping centre.

The work on the A2042 is for the slip road which will connect the new car park, on the fields near Asda, to the dual carriageway as well as 'improvement' works on the Kimberley Way roundabout.

A spokesman from the Designer Outlet said: "Incremental improvement works to Kimberley Way roundabout will commence next week and are planned to last 10 weeks.

"This will also include the formation of a permanent slip road from the new car park at Ashford Designer Outlet, which will deliver a further 725 parking spaces at the centre."

The road closure will begin this Sunday and is set to end on April 13.
