Ashford: Man to appear in court charged with firearms offence

A man is to appear in court charged with a firearms offence after armed police descended on a residential street.

Four armed response vehicles and two ambulances rushed to Dean's Walk in South Ashford at 10am on Saturday morning.

Alex Crammond, 27, is accused of failing to comply with a condition of a shotgun certificate.

The Dean's Walk resident has been released on bail to appear at Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, July 25.

One witness they saw officers rushing into a house, adding they were dressed in black and "all arrived with guns".

Another neighbour said: "I heard shouting at about 10am and looked out the window and saw armed police and a sniffer dog.

"It is usually a quiet road; things like this never happen around here."

Asked if the gun was fired or seen during the incident, a police spokesman did not comment.
