Ashford remembrance events will be taking place in the Church Road War Memorial Gardens and St Mary's Church on Sunday

Scores of people are expected to pay their respects at Ashford's annual remembrance of service personnel who have fallen in battle.

Ashford mayor Cllr David Smith will be among those participating in this year’s proceedings, which take place in the Memorial Gardens off Church Road this Sunday.

He will be joined by members of the Royal British Legion, cadets, ex-services personnel and guests.

The wreath-laying service, which will be led by Canon Colin Preece, will include a two-minute silence at 11am.

A remembrance service will be held at St Mary’s Church in the town centre at 11.30am.

Flares, known as maroons, will also be set off in the Memorial Gardens on Monday, to mark the start and finish of the two-minute Armistice Day silence.
