Ashford footballer taken to King's College Hospital, London, after being injured while playing at Ashford United FC's Homeland's Stadium in Kingsnorth

A teenage footballer was knocked unconscious during a match at Ashford United FC's Homeland's Stadium in Kingsnorth last night.

The 17-year-old suffered a suspected head or neck injury while playing at about 8.50pm.

The air ambulance was called and the helicopter crew accompanied the boy to King's College Hospital, London, in an ambulance.

Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said: "The boy was reported to have been knocked unconscious for a short period following a fall to the ground.

"An ambulance and a car attended the scene and were joined by the air ambulance.

"All crews worked together to assess and treat the teenager, who was then taken by road to King's College Hospital. The air ambulance team joined us in our ambulance to help treat the boy en route to hospital."

Ashford United FC has been approached for a comment.
