Love Island contestant Ella Barnes is dancer from Ashford who went to school in Tenterden

The latest “bombshell” to enter the Love Island villa is a dancer and beautician from Kent.

It was revealed on the ITV2 programme last night that 23-year-old Ella Barnes from Ashford is joining the contestants on tonight’s show.

Ella’s Instagram page portrays a glamourous lifestyle, with photos shared from across the world - including Ibiza, Dubai and swanky London venues.

Yet she also indulges in some "retail therapy" closer to home at Ashford Designer Outlet.

She has now flown out to Mallorca to join fellow Islanders vying for the £50,000 prize.

Speaking ahead of her entrance the 5ft 2” dancer and model, described as a “pocket rocket”, said she was ready to “shake things up”.

Ella is said to already have history with contestant Tyrique.

Announcing her appearance on Instagram, the Love Island account said: “Tyrique, this is a face you’re sure to recognise.”

Her appearance on the reality show won't be the first time Ella, a former pupil of Homewood School in Tenterden, has taken centre stage.

She has performed with the English Youth Ballet and won a national title for dancing.

And back in 2012, she had a starring role as an Olympic torch bearer as the flame passed through Kent.

She was nominated by Homewood teacher Charlie Price for her dancing success and because she was an inspiration to other pupils.

At the time, Miss Price told our sister paper the Kentish Express: "Ella is motivated by trying to excel and achieve the best that she can. Many students look to Ella for inspiration because of her outgoing, lively character."

At 12-years-old, she was one of the youngest torch bearers and ran her 300m from Northgate to Broad Street in Canterbury city centre, cheered on by dad Mark, brother Kane and mum Jo, who said: "We are so proud of her."

A year later, she performed with the English Youth Ballet in a production of Swan Lake, taking to the stage at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.

Then in 2015 she won the Great British Championships in freestyle disco dance for her age group, according to her Linkedin page.

After Homewood, Ella went to West Kent College and Ashford College, where she studied business marketing and law.

She is now a beautician and is a qualified make-up artist with her own business called Beauty By Ell, which is registered in Ashford.

The business has a rating of five out of five from 67 reviews on Facebook, with comments including: "I would 1,000% recommend 10 times over.”

Ella also frequently shares pictures from stunning locations with her 13,000 followers on Instagram.

One photo from June last year shows her raising a glass at the Aura Skypool in Dubai, with the caption: "Drinking wine, looking at this view all day."

In September she celebrated her birthday at the Sexy Fish bar and restaurant in Mayfair, London.

Ella is not the only contestant flying the flag for Kent in the villa.

Project manager Sammy Root, who is also from the county, made his debut on the show last month.

The 22-year-old described himself as “a catch” who is “quite easy on the eye” and insists his success rate with girls is “quite high”.
